:iconphatpuppyart-studios: Phatpuppyart-Studios is one of several online locations you can find Claudia and her artwork, much of which graces the covers of some of the best up and coming, and well known authors books.  As a continuation of our Project Educate Stock & Resources week we caught up with her and asked her some questions.

You've been a stock provider on deviantART for a while now, what first got you interested in providing stock to the community?

I thought it would be fun to give people something a little extra to play with while you learn. Most of my stuff is non-commercial - BUT people can use to practice their editing skills - which is something I used to do a lot of when I first started -- always scouring for good stock to try.. :)

When you are creating your backgrounds does the final result come purely from on the spot editing and changes as you are working on it or do you start out with an idea/theme that you aim towards?

It can be either/or. Often times I'll fall into the idea as I play with the images and it snowballs from there. There is an instant knowing for me when i see a picture I can work with - like "yes" this will work or definitely "not". lol

You use stock regularly yourself in your own work, do you ever get inspired directly from a stock image, or do you have an idea or theme in mind before you start looking for stock elements?

Again - really depends on my mood - the stock - etc...
sometimes, yeah, the stock will sing to me.....

As an artist who regularly uses stock commercially in work for your clients do you have any advice for other artists or stock providers about commercial use?

I'm blessed in that I work with a lot of cool resources - I am given a lot of commercial stock from the film studios where I freelance - so it helps me a lot in the day-to-day. I feel that if you have a decent camera - there's nothing stopping an artist for getting some of the shots they need for their work -- unbelievable the stuff I've shot that could be used as backgrounds, textures, brushes. Just get super creative....

Its often said that the stock & resources community on DeviantART is one in a million, do you have any advice for other deviants who would like to start sharing their own resources?

I do think it's an awesome place to gather stock - no doubt about it -- on the other side of that coin, there is a lot of abuse with the stock too -- so I would say, obey the stock rules.... and you'll be good to go.

Last but not least, what flavour cupcake are you?

Hmm.... my husband is sitting here saying something sweet and sour! lol
I'm going to go with something decadent and chocolate....loaded with fudge and chocolate chips.....
As long as I'm a cupcake and not a muffin top, I'm happy! hahahahaha
